A festival of all things handmade

HANDMADE 2011

HANDMADE 2011 was the inaugural event and was a huge success with social media sites alight with wonderfully positive feedback and excitement at what people had made and attended.

Although the creators of HANDMADE, Avenues Event Management are experienced in bringing complex events to life, HANDMADE 2011 was a unique experience and it was heartwarming to be around such excitement both during the event and following. We’re excited to be creating another event with new activities (and some repeats) to offer more opportunities to celebrate all things HANDMADE!

Programme

At HANDMADE 2011 we had over 150 activities to choose from! Workshops, masterclasses, tours and a lecture series kept participants busy over Queen’s Birthday weekend.

Highlights 2011

It’s difficult to choose the stand out highlights as the whole event had so many enjoyable, creative and exciting aspects.

Anyone who attended HANDMADE 2011 will have their own favourites – but we think that all the people gathered with a common interest in exploring or extending their HANDMADE potential, and the buzz that creates, was the overall highlight.

On the Saturday night the experts of the HANDMADE programme got together to showcase the items they make to expert quality and sold them at the Meet the Makers Party. The opportunity to talk to the HANDMADE makers about what they do and make, and buy direct from them while enjoying a glass of wine and delicious cheese with new and old friends was another high point.

Many enjoyed sharing the HANDMADE experience with good friends and family, or the chance to have some time on their own to experience the craft they’ve always wanted to learn.

Although much of the event will remain unchanged, we left HANDMADE 2011 bursting with great ideas to develop further in 2012. By refreshing the activities and always refining this great concept we will continue to bring you a fresh and exciting event each year.

Feedback

We were happy to boast a flood of positive feedback following HANDMADE 2011. Here’s what some of our participants had to say!

“I loved the weekend. I got to meet my long time fave blogger Melissa of Tiny Happy. She was fantastic. I put my two eggs in her basket and made her needlebook and drawstring pouches. So satisfied. I want one of those sewing machines. Tash and the Holland Road Yarn Co did a fab job with the knit lounge. Thx for complimentary tickets to Saturday nights getalong. That was the cherry on top. X” – Rachelle T
